Cachar Mobile Medical Unit doctor passes away, tests COVID-19 positive post death

Silchar, Jul 13: Dr. Bijay Kumar Singh, Medical Officer, Mobile Medical Unit(MMU) Cachar died on Monday. According to sources in the District Health Department, Dr Singh was 51 and is survived by his wife and a daughter.
Sources in the Health Department, Dr Singh, a resident of Arunachal in Masimpur area of the district who was engaged in COVID duty, was suffering from fever for the past few days. Ayan Das, project officer of Mobile Medical Unit of Barak Valley informed that Dr Singh was found to be affected by COVID-19 following a post-mortem at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital(SMCH). Das informed that they are taking steps for COVID-19 test for Dr Singh's wife as well. The Cachar District Administration has condoled the demise of Dr Singh.
Sources in the District Health Department further informed that as a part of the Mobile Medical Unit, Dr Singh was engaged in treating patients across tea garden areas of the district.
