Silchar, June 20: In Cachar, health workers reach a village on boat for vaccinating over 200 persons

Amidst the stiff challenge posed by the second wave of COVID-19, health workers of Cachar district looked resolute to overcome hurdles enroute call of duty. Health workers under the National Health Mission were seen crossing a beel to reach Jabda village in Katigorah constituency to administer vaccination to the villagers.


Burhanul Hoque Choudhury, Block Programme Manager Jalalpur Block PHC informed that a team of health workers consisting of six members including women staff reached the village after treading through a few kilometres on road and later crossing a beel in a boat covering a time distance of at least an hour to reach Jabda village. " In the village 120 persons in the age group of 18-44 years and 103 persons above 45 years of age have been vaccinated on Saturday. We have covered vaccination of at least 90 percent of the village population," Choudhury informed.


Expressing her reactions on the efforts of the health workers, Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli said " this is what we have been doing since phase 1 of COVID-19 outbreak. Health teams have been tireless and relentless against the odds of the pandemic. We are ensuring the last man standing shall also be covered. Request people to not violate curfew guidelines and aid in spread of the disease. Credit to all the foot soldiers."
