Cachar district: Man from Derby tea garden hangs himself after allegedly attempting to murder his wife

Silchar, Nov 1: A man, aged around 32 years from Derby tea garden in Cachar district has hanged himself, after allegedly attempting to murder his wife.

Sources said that the incident took place on Saturday while the person's body was found hanging on a tree on Sunday. However, the family sources of the man's wife claimed that she is under treatment at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

Police, however, has said that based on preliminary investigation, the incident appears to be a case of suicide. The body of the person has been recovered and sent to Silchar Medical College for post mortem. Police further said that more leads into the incident are being investigated and further inquiry will be made once the deceased person's wife recovers.

On the other hand, authorities of the garden informed the media that the family was not among the employees of the garden but they were residing at a place within the ambit of the garden.
