Silchar, June 23: Cachar district administration in cooperation with the working journalists organised a camp for administering second of COVID-19 vaccines to media persons and their family members who have had their first dose in the month of May this year.
According to a release issued by the DDIPR Barak Valley region, in the camp held at Durga Sankar Pathshala here on Wednesday, a total of 176 journalists were administered a second dose of Covaxin with stricter adherence to COVID-19 protocols. It may be recalled that on 12th May, a similar vaccination camp was organised by working journalists under the aegis of District Administration Cachar where over 200 media persons and their family members were administered first dose of Covid vaccine.
Deputy commissioner Cachar Keerthi Jalli directed the in-charge Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Barak valley zone Sajjadul Haque Choudhury to take all necessary steps so that the journalists attending the vaccination camp could get a second dose . Goutam Talukdar, joint secretary Silchar Press Club, senior scribe Uttam Kumar Saha along with Kinkar Das and other scribes also chipped in with assistance and cooperation to make the event successful.
"We are happy to arrange for media a dedicated second dose site. They have been supporting us in this fight against the pandemic against odds. This drive will help them in performing their duties well," The Deputy Commissioner said.
"The district has a large population so everyone will be administered Covid vaccine in phases, The medical team is also working hard to make the vaccine available to the public in a systematic way, just as the Covid vaccine is coming in a phased approach, I thank all the journalists for conducting the vaccination camp smoothly," The Deputy Commissioner added.
Goutam Talukdar said the Covid vaccination camp was organized for the second time in Silchar for the journalists and their family members and appreciated the initiative taken by the Deputy Commissioner.
