Silchar, July 3: Amidst the ambience of oxygen needed to save lives of COVID-19 afflicted patients, Abhinav Deb,a nine years old, chose to plant saplings on his 9th birthday on Friday.
"We get oxygen from trees and all of us must plant trees," said Abhinav, a student of Delhi Public School who was joyful after planting saplings along with his parents Ajoy Deb and Bulti Deb, residents of Dwarbond under Borjalenga GP of Cachar district. Ajoy Deb said "Abhinav joins in planting saplings on World Environment Day every year and so the idea to celebrate his birthday by planting trees across a stretch of 2 kms crossed our mind. We covered a stretch of 700 meters today and we feel happy to help our son inculcate these practices."
Abhinav's mother Bulti Deb who is also Anchalik Panchayat member said that the humble effort is to help their son realize the importance of plantation and greenery. "We have fenced the saplings and hope that the whole stretch of 2 kms very soon.
