Bodoland University to organise 2nd convocation on February 15

KOKRAJHAR, Feb.13: Preparations are afoot to hold the second convocation of Bodoland University (BU) here on February 15. The prestigious event will be presided over by Prof. Jagadish Mukhi, Governor of Assam and Chancellor of Bodoland University.

Prof. Bidyut Chakrabarty, Vice Chancellor of Visva Bharati University, West Bengal will be the chief guest of the event and will deliver the Convocation Address. Sri. Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Council, will be present as the Guest of Honor.

A total of 4171 graduates, post graduates, diplomates and doctorates between the years 2019 and 2021 will be conferred with their degrees and diplomas by Prof. Jagadish Mukhi. The passed outs belong to various disciplines under the faculty of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management.

Established in 2009, Bodoland University is the only state collegiate university in the BTAD alongwith the lower Assam region after Guahati University. The university under its affiliation has a total of 57 colleges out of which 7 are B.Ed colleges, falling under the BTAD region. The university has a total of 17 PG departments of English, Assamese, Bodo, Economics, Political Science, History, Education, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Physics,Geography, Biotech, Mathematical Sciences, Computer Science, Management Studies and Commerce and one UG department of Bamboo Technology. It also offers diploma and certificate courses in Human Rights Education, Bodo Studies, Mushroom Cultivation and Bamboo Studies. The university has recently developed a Technology Incubation Centre mainly for cultivating mushrooms and their spawns, which also offers training to interested farmers and individuals for livelihood purpose. The university is growing prominently for the various achievements made by its students, scholars and teachers at the national and international levels.
