Attack on Sushmita Dev in Tripura: Cachar Trinamool cadres stage protest in Silchar

Silchar, Oct 25: Protesting the recent attack by miscreants on Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev at Amtali area in West Tripura last Friday, cadres of the All India Trinamool Congress committee in Cachar district staged a demonstration on Monday at the Khudiram Bose point.

In the protest, Sajal Banik, a frontline cadre of the TMC said "people of Cachar and Assam at large must realize and stay alert on the possibilities of such attacks here as well. The attacks on the TMC MP in Tripura gives a clear hint that opposition voices will never be allowed to be echoed in the states ruled by the BJP, which is detrimental to the spirit of democracy," Banik alleged.

Meanwhile, reacting to the attacks on her, Sushmita Dev said, "There is no space for political violence. Muzzling the voice and the right of any party or its leaders and workers is a direct attack on democracy."
