Silchar, April 24: Dr Baban H Shambharkar, assistant professor at the Department of Chemistry National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar passed away in Nagpur after battling against COVID-19.
Sources at NIT Silchar informed that Dr Shambharkar went to attend his mother's funeral in Nagpur and had been admitted after he was infected by the virus.
"He had breathing complications and he was battling against COVID-19 at a hospital in Nagpur. He was around 40 years old had survived by his wife and three year old daughter. We at NIT Silchar are shell shocked at the demise of the academician," a senior professor at NIT Silchar informed. It is learnt that a condolence meet has been organised at the institute on April 26.
