Guwahati, Oct 15: In a disturbing incident, a young man from Dergaon in Assam has tragically taken his own life, after he claimed physical abuse by police officers.
The victim, identified as Ajoy Dutta, was found hanging from a tree on the banks of the Gelabil River. The event unfolded in Kumargaon Doloumukh, Dergaon, on the day of Vijaya Dashami.
A video recording made by the young man on social media prior to his death revealed that he had been forcibly taken into police custody and physically assaulted by the officers.
Dutta live-streamed his intention to end his life on Facebook and said that he would not be returning home.
The incident has sparked outrage and demands for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ajoy Dutta's death and the alleged police misconduct.
