Silchar, May 4: In a latest move, responding to the communication from Ministry of Education, Government of India, authorities of Assam University Silchar have postponed all offline examination of the university and its affiliated colleges which were scheduled to be held in the month of May.

Controller of Examination of the varsity Dr Suprabir Dutta Roy, in a notice issued on Tuesday said " In pursuance of DO No. Secy(HE)/MoE/2021 dtd 3rd May 2021, all offline examination of the university and its affiliated colleges in month of May are postponed. This is issued with approval of the authority."

The Secretary, Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education had written to all the vice chancellors, directors and heads of centrally funded institutions that under the prevailing situation of second wave of COVID-19 which is sweeping across many parts of the country, the institutional heads are urged to postpone all the offline examinations scheduled in the month of May. The situation would be reviewed in thr first week of June and appropriate steps would be taken, the letter said.

It may be recalled that, in a notification on April 28 this year, the varsity had postponed TDC odd Semester examinations scheduled between May 5-12th because of the constant surge of Covid-19 and in pursuance of the directives of Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson, District Disaster Management Authority, Cachar vide order No.DDMA39/CHR/2021/30 dated 27.04.2021. In the same notification, the authorities said that barring online classes, offline activities of all academic departments of the university and affiliated colleges of the district of Cachar shall remain closed from 28th April to 12th May.
