Diphu, July 11: In a factional clash within two splinter groups of United People's Revolutionary Front (UPRF) at dawn in the heights of Singhason hills of Karbi Anglong district on Sunday; the self-styled Commander-in-Chief of the UPRF Manggin Kholhou alias Verappan was killed.

According to police, the incident of shootout took place inside deep forest near Thangpibung village. The place of discharge is commanded by Bokajan police station and is around fifteen kilometres from the general area of Tokolangso.

After the skirmish police reached the place and brought the body for initial examination in Bokajan Civil Hospital and later brought the body to Diphu Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

Police have attributed the incident to an internal clash within the ultra group. No information of arms recovery has been confirmed by police.
