Assam: Sub-Inspector caught red-handed accepting bribe

Hailakandi, Nov 17: In a major development, a sub inspector of police has been caught red handed in Hailakandi while taking five thousand rupees cash as bribe.

The Superintendent of Police in Hailakandi, Gaurav Upadhyay confirmed the incident. Special Director General of Police, law and order cum Director Vigilance and Anti Corruption Cell of Assam, GP Singh confirmed the development. He shared, "SI(UB) Sudhanya Bhattacharjee, of Hailakandi PS was caught red-handed by Directorate Vigilance & Anti Corruption Assam while accepting bribe of INR 5000 today (Nov 17th) from the complainant inside Hailakandi PS."

Police sources said that he asked the complainant to pay rupees five thousand to settle a land related case. Bhattacharjee was caught red handed today while taking the bribe by the cops of Vigilance and Anti-corruption.

Sources said that a case has been registered against him under various sections of IPC. Further investigation is on.
