Assam Police announces cash reward on information leading to 3 suspected rhino poachers

Guwahati, Feb 2: The Assam Police on Wednesday announced a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh for information leading to the arrests of three accused in connection with a recent case of rhino poaching.

Apart from this, a reward of Rs 5 Lakhs has been announced for information leading to the recovery of poached Rhino horn.


The development comes after the State recorded the first rhino poaching incident in Kaziranga National Park on January 19. Last month Commando forces were deployed by the anti-task force to keep a check on the poaching incidents in the national park. The authorities have already ramped up their fight against the poachers following which the State police have announced cash rewards for inputs leading to the arrests of three suspected poachers.

Special Director General of Police (DGP) Law and Order GP Singh who is also in charge of the Anti-Rhino Poaching Task Force while making this announcement on Twitter wrote, "WANTED FOR RHINO POACHING REWARD OF Rs 2 Lacs – for information leading to arrest of each of them."

Singh also uploaded the pictures of the wanted poachers. The three suspected poachers were identified as Ataur Rahman (35) alias Bassa, Abdul Matin (36) aka Kala and Asmat Ali (35) aka Nalco. As per the update, all of them are residents of Adabheti in Assam's Biswanath district.
