Guwahati, Jan 31: A team of Delhi Police has arrested one Motiur Rahman from Lakhimpur district of Assam for his alleged involvement in procuring luxury vehicles stolen from Delhi.

As per reports, a team of Delhi Crime Branch has been investing in the case of an inter-state gang of car-lifters.

Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch on January 10 finally arrested the accused Rahman from Dimapur in Nagaland.

Reportedly, Rahman was procuring the stolen cars from Delhi and with the help of his associates in Nagaland and Manipur and would send the stolen vehicles to other northeastern states.

Following a search operation, it came to the fore that Rahman was at the helm of affairs and police tracked him down and issued a non-bailable warrant. Although Rahman was absconding he was later arrested by the police.

Upon interrogation, Rahman disclosed about his involvement in the inter-state motor vehicle theft and supply of stolen vehicles from the national capital.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Monika Bhardwaj said to the media that a team was constituted to bust gangs involved in motor vehicle theft and supply of the stolen luxurious cars, following which Rahman was arrested.

Further investigations are being carried out and raids are being conducted in the northeastern states to nab the associates and to recover the stolen vehicles.

According to reports, several high-end cars were recovered from their possession.
