Assam: Locals demand compensation for families killed during cutting of hills in Koiya tea estate

Hailakandi, Feb 24: The local people have demanded adequate compensation to the families who lost the life and injured during the cutting of hills in Koiya tea estate of Hailakandi district.

It can be mentioned here that truck driver Anwar Hussain Laskar, 35 died on the spot when soil comes down heavily from the hills, he was cutting. Two helpers who were setting the soil were also injured seriously. They have been identified as Ratan Suklabaidya, 33 and Saidul Haque Laskar, 25. Both of them have been shifted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Their conditions are reported to be very critical.

The circle officer of Lala, Krishna Arjun Barman visited the spot and started inquiry into the incident. The body of driver has been handed over to the family after conducting post mortem in Hailakandi S K Roy Civil Hospital.
