Silchar, Oct 31: Two persons, in the guise of passengers attempting to run away with a car along the Silchar airport have been apprehended by Cachar police on Sunday.
Sources informed that the two persons had rented a cab from Park road area in the town for going to the airport at Kumbhirgram. On the way, they held the driver at gunpoint asking for the keys of the car from him. The driver, however, acted circumstantially and made a narrow escape while the youths were nabbed by police, sources added.
Cachar SP Ramandeep Kaur said, "the armed dacoity has been foiled by police. The apprehended persons had no air tickets with them. Arms including airguns and pistols with ammunition have been recovered from the apprehended persons identified as brothers. The investigation is in progress and we are looking into multiple angles behind the incident."
