Silchar, May 29: 61 year old Siraj Uddin Mazumder, a resident of Panchgram and an employee of the closed Cachar Paper Mill at Panchram under Hindustan Paper Corporation passed away on Friday at around 10:30 pm.

Manabendra Chakraborty, President of Joint Action Committee of Recognised Unions (JACRU) informed the press that Mazumder was battling against hypertension and paralysis followed by cerebral stroke. But due to the financial crisis owing to the non-release of pending salary and retirement dues, he could not afford better treatment, Chakraborty alleged.

He said that this casualty has raised the death toll of mill employees to 87 so far and added that this is the second death since the BJP led new Government spearheaded by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma came to power.

Chakraborty alleged that amidst the deaths of their colleagues and denial of justice, they will look to approach people to raise voice against the injustice meted out to them.
