Dhubri, July 7: Chapar Police on Tuesday raided a truck (AS-01MC-9398) and found as many as 7920 bottles of addictive and illegal Cough syrups hidden inside different boxes with Mangoes in the top .


Police informed that acting on a tip-off, the team of Chapar Police raided a truck which was heading towards Tripura via Dhubri carrying mangoes, from West Bengal.


"At first the police thought that by mistake they had stopped the wrong truck, but suddenly police staff noticed that all the containers containing mango on top were secretly carrying Cough Syrup bottles underneath the boxes", Dhubri SP Abhijit Gurav. The value of the material is estimated between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Abhijit Gurav, SP, Dhubri mentioned that a case has been registered against the accused person under NDPS Act and further investigation will be done. He also said that the crackdown on drugs and narcotics would continue in the future.
