Silchar, April 23: Amidst the constant spike of COVID-19 cases, in an interesting turn of events, authorities of District Health Department informed on Friday that while 511 air passengers who had reached Silchar airport, as many as 337 passengers were tested and eight persons were found to be COVID-19 positive.

Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert NHM told the media "while 337 passengers were tested, rest of the passengers fled without getting their tests done."

Sources informed that security persons deployed at the testing centre had failed to put a check on the situation.

It may be recalled that in a recent incident, authorities of Cachar district Administration had informed that 300 air passengers had escaped the swab sample tests and subsequently a list of 385 passengers were handed over to police and FIRs were lodged as well.
