72nd Vanmahotsava: Smokeless kitchen village inaugurated in Cachar

Silchar,July 4: The Cachar Forest Division celebrated 72nd "Vanmahotsava" with strict adherence to Covid protocols at the Bishnupur Forest Village under Hawaithang Range of Dholai constituency on Friday.


As a part of the occasion, Sandeep Kumar, IFS , Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests , Lower Assam Zone ,Guwahati inaugurated the smokeless kitchen village , implemented in Bishnupur Forest Village under the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions project along with Divisional Forest Officer ,Cachar, Sunnydeo Choudhury IFS , Range Forest Officer and all the forest officials of the Range Forest Office.


Further, sapling distribution and plantation activities were done by the dignitaries and people of the village. Sandeep Kumar, IFS appreciated the promptness of forest villagers of Bishnupur Forest Village for implementing a 100% smokeless kitchen village.


" The efforts will help to reduce consumption of fuel wood by 40 percent and also improve the health of the ladies and children of the house," Kumar said. He also appealed to the people to plant as many trees as possible especially during the rainy season and protect them which will benefit the future generations and the environment at large .
