Diphu, Aug 27: On the basis of specific input received, a joint operation was carried out early in the morning today by Karbi Anglong police along with Dimapur based 5th Assam Rifle personnel in the area of Gharialdubi under Bokajan police station in Karbi Anglong district.
Four persons were held along with huge arms and ammunition from their procession, police sources informed. The apprehended persons have been identified as Raju Ghatawar son of Feku Ghatawar resident of Daldali, Dhansiri area under Diphu Police station, Krishna Urang, son of Mahadev Urang resident of Daldali, Dhansiri area under Diphu Police station, Lukash Kangari son of Ishak Kangari resident of Hatokajan under Dilai police station, and Robert Haro son of Lt Prem Chand Haro resident of Lama Basti under Khatkhati police station.
It may be mentioned here that one 0.22 Rifle with magazine, one 9 mm pistol with Magazine, two numbers of .22mm pistol with Magazines, one Chinese Grenade, one local hand grenade and five numbers of live 0.22 rounds of ammunition were recovered from their procession.
While replying to a question of having links with any militant groups, Superintendent of police of Karbi Anglong informed that investigation and interrogations are on in this regard to collect their details and about the roots of the apprehended armed persons.
