4 drug peddlers held, heroin worth Rs 80 lakhs seized in Chaparmukh station

Raha, Oct 20: Raha police jointly with Anti Narcotic Squad of Nagaon police nabbed four drug peddlers from Chaparmukh railway station and seized 120 grams of heroin from their possession in early hours on Wednesday.

Based on intelligence input, the police team launched a search operation at the station at 3 am on Wednesday and apprehended the drug peddlers.

"Our police team found 120 grams of heroin packed into 10 soap cases which were kept hidden under her clothes by Sitara Begum, the female peddler of the gang", said Dhruba Bora, additional superintendent of police, Nagaon in a press briefing on the crime at Raha police station on Wednesday noon.

The ASP Bora further informed that the four drug peddlers arrived at the Chaparmukh railway station by Ledo express passenger train from Dimapur at around 3 am on Wednesday. He said that among the four accused one Ainul Haque was the kingpin of the gang. He was wanted in connection with many drugs related cases by Nagaon police. The market value of the seized heroin from the accused is estimated at Rs 80 lakhs the ASP added.

The accused drug peddlers have been identified as Ainul Haque, Sitara Begum of Bher Bheri village under Bordua PS, Rosidul Haque of Dhonia Bheti village, Bordua PS and Wadiqul Islam of Long Jup Podumoni village under Kachua PS, Nagaon.

The press meet was also attended by Mrigen Saikia , officer in-charge of Raha police station.
