By Staff Correspondent

Silchar, Aug 2: Amidst public outrage in Barak Valley over death of six jawans of Assam Police and injuries caused to many police persons in the clash at Lailapur along Assam-Mizoram interstate border on July 26, a cargo consignment was flown into Mizoram from Silchar airport on Monday, sources said.

It has been a week since the clash at Lailapur; the NH 306 has been allegedly blocked by people staging protests over the deaths in the outbreak of violence along the interstate border. Sources informed on Monday that a cargo flight of airline company Spicejet which reached the Silchar airport in the morning hours had departed for Lengpui airport in Aizawl at 10 am with a cargo load of 3711 kg of goods.

It may be recalled that State Urban Development Minister Ashok Singhal who is also the Guardian Minister for Cachar district, during his visit to Lailapur following the incident had categorically said "the Government did not initiate any such move for economic blockade, along the route which goes through Barak Valley to Mizoram." However, top brass of the Government maintained "when such a violence outbreaks, outburst of emotions by people of Assam over loss of lives are quite natural."
