330 persons recovered from COVID-19, discharged from SMCH

Silchar, May 16: Four more deaths due to COVID-19 have been recorded at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) on Sunday. Dr Bhasakar Gupta, vice principal of the hospital said that while 221 COVID-19 active cases are at the hospital now, as many as 330 persons have been discharged after recovering from the disease in this calendar year so far.

On the other hand District Health Department sources informed that upto 6pm, as many as 235 COVID-19 positive cases were detected in the district. The Cachar district administration has turned an apartment at Ullaskar Dutta Sarani of Silchar as a containment zone after the area reached 5 percent positivity rate in the last one week. It may be mentioned that already six areas across Katigorah and Udharbond constituency have been declared as containment zones by Cachar district administration.
