Hailakandi, July 1: 23 doctors have been felicitated today in SK Roy Civil Hospital on the occasion of National Doctors' Day in a programme organised jointly by the socio-cultural organisation Dreams and joint director of health services. Explaining the purpose of the day, the president of Dreams, Gautam Gupta said that the day was started in 1991 to give honour to eminent doctor and former chief minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He said that the doctors are like God for the patients. He congratulated the doctors for their relentless service during the time of COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking on the occasion, joint director of health services, Dr. Ashutosh Barman reiterated the contribution of medical professionals. He also highlighted the various problems faced by the doctors while discharging the duties.

The programme was also addressed by the incharge superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Suvendu Chakraborty, Dr. MH Khandakar, Dr. Ranabijoy Malakar, president of Mohila Morcha of BJP, Anamika Acharjya, S. Bhattacharjee among others. The programme was anchored by Shankari Choudhury.

The doctors were felicitated with mementos.
