Hailakandi, June 15: A COVID-19 positive mother has given birth of a child in SK Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi. Both mother and newborn are in good health. The district media expert of National Health Mission, Monika Das informed that the male child has been named Ayushman and is totally normal and found COVID-19 negative. During the birth, the weight of the baby was 2.5 kg. "Mother and the baby are absolutely fine and the baby's suckling reflex is normal", she added.
The parents came to the hospital a few days back and the woman was admitted to COVID ward after the 21-year-old was found positive. On June 12, she gave birth to a male child
She said that the father of the baby pulls e-rickshaw and resides in Rajyeswarpur village of Hailakandi district. Extreme precautions were taken by the health workers during the delivery. The mother has been allowed to give breast milk to the baby, Das added. During breastfeeding, the mother has been asked to maintain all the precautions and use face mask, sanitizer, she said.
