2 more deaths raise Jorhat COVID toll to 129

Jorhat, May 31: Two more persons expired due to COVID-19 thereby raising the total number of cumulative COVID deaths in Jorhat district to 129.

Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman informed that Amila Tanti (F, 65) of Tocklai, Jorhat and Khalil Ahmed (M, 55) of Royal Road, Jorhat, died due to COVID.

Barman stated that altogether 101 people were found positive in Jorhat district on Sunday thereby increasing the total number of cumulative positive cases to 18503.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that total number of active cases in the district was 2057 while the number of discharged after recovery was 16222 in the district on Sunday.

Meanwhile, 15 persons were found positive at Majuli on Sunday. A Majuli district administration official informed that the number of active cases in the river island was 89 on Sunday.
