190 COVID casualties at SMCH, 12, 437 recovered in Cachar since Jan

Silchar, June 14: At a time when number of active cases at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) are showing a downward trend, three more COVID-19 positive patients have succumed in the last 24 hours since Saturday.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, vice principal of SMCH informed on Sunday that out of the three deceased, most of them came from the sub-urban areas of the district. He further informed that since Jaunary this year as many as 190 people have collapsed due to COVID-19 at the hospital till Sunday while 1,395 persons have recovered from the disease during same period.

Till 5pm on Sunday, 178 active cases are under treatment at the medical college with 79 admitted at the ICU.

On the other hand, sources in the District Health Department informed that since 1st April this year till June 13 many as 2,432 people were detected to be COVID-19 positive from across the district. 2,013 persons have opted for home isloation during the same period. 12,437 persons have recovered from the disease so far. On Sunday 150 new cases were detected from across the district, sources added.
