15 more COVID-19 deaths in Jorhat, death toll shoots up to 158

Jorhat, June 5: Altogether 15 persons expired due to COVID-19 thereby raising the total number of cumulative COVID deaths in Jorhat district to 158.

Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman informed four people died due to COVID in the past two days while 11more died in the past 20 days, but their death audit reports were received lately by the district administration from the State Death Audit Board.

It may be mentioned here that the State Death Audit Board decides whether dying of a COVID-19-infected patient could be declared as a COVID death.

Barman stated that altogether 191 people were found positive in Jorhat district on Friday thereby increasing the total number of cumulative positive cases to 19482.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that total number of active cases in the district was 2428 while the number of discharged after recovery was 16824 in the district on Friday.
