15 including DSP injured in Hailakandi road accident

Hailakandi, Dec 6: At least fifteen persons including a Deputy Superintendent of Police and a pregnant woman injured in a two separate road accident in Hailakandi on Sunday night.

Police sources said that the first accident occured in the evening where nine persons were injured including a pregnant woman at Boalipar market area over National Highway, around three kms from Hailakandi town. The local people blocked the Assam-Mizoram inter-state NH after the accident.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nirmal Ghosh went to the spot along with police force when a speeding car pushed them from behind. Due to this, Ghosh and four police personnel received serious injuries.

All the injured persons were taken into SK Roy Civil Hospital for treatment. Two persons including the pregnant woman were later referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital as their condition is reported to be critical.
