143 found Covid positive in Jorhat, 3 deaths reported

Jorhat, May 6: Three persons expired due to COVID-19 and altogether 143 people were found positive in Jorhat district on Wednesday thereby increasing the total number of cumulative positive cases to 14,086.

Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Roshni A Korati informed this evening that Atul Saikia (M, 76) of Kola Gaon Tilikiam, Jorhat, Prafulla Saikia, (M, 73) of Na-Ali, Jorhat and Konmai Das (F, 60) of Panichokua 8 Mile, Pulibor, Jorhat, died due to COVID.

She stated that with the death of these positive persons the number of COVID deaths in the district increased to 86.

She stated that altogether 1,904 tests were done across the district on Wednesday out of which 1779 were RAT and rest RT-PCR. She stated that among the 143 positive found, 119 cases were from RAT and 24 from RT-PCR.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that total number of active cases in the district was 707 while the number of discharged after recovery was 13220 in the district on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, three positive case were detected in Majuli on Wednesday. A Majuli district administration official informed this evening that three positive cases were found from 647 RAT tests while no positive person was found from 20 RT-PCR tests done today in the river island.

The official said that the number of active cases in the Brahmaputra island was 39 on Wednesday and 250 people were vaccinated today thereby increasing the total number of vaccinated persons in the island district till date to 28,819.
