Hailakandi, Oct 30: Altogether 10 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested by Assam Police in Assam-Tripura bordering Churaibari area under Bazaricherra police watchpost in Karimganj district during the last 24 hours.
This has created sensations among the local people of Karimganj district. All of them were coming from Dharmanagar in Tripura. They were arrested during routine check up of vehicles on three different occasions. An Indian linkman has also been arrested along with them. Police sources said that the arrested illegal migrants revealed that they were on the way to South India from Badarpur railway station. They informed that they work in various restaurants of South Indian cities and they earlier also travelled there through Barak Valley. They illegally enter India via Tripura border through a linkman.
The incharge of Bazaricherra police watchpost, Monoranjan Sinha informed that the arrested Bangladeshis were on the way to Chennai for job. They failed to produce any proper documents during the search. A linkman of Ratabari area, Bidhan Chandra Das, has also been arrested for helping them to enter India illegally, Sinha added.
Most of them are residents of Rajshahi and Khulna of Bangladesh. The drivers of vehicles have also been picked up for interrogation, he said. All the arrested persons have been sent for medical check up. Investigation is on.
