Assam win opening match in sub jr football

BOKAKHAT, Jan 5 - Assam made a winning start in the National Sub Junior Football Championship (NE Region). The championship has been organised by the Bokakhat District Sports Association (BDSA) under the guidance of the Assam Football Association (AFA).

At the Bokakhat Stadium here today, Assam edged past Tripura 2-1. Rigam Narzary put Assam ahead in the 34th minute but Krishan Chandra Dev drew parity before half time. However, Rishiraj Konwar fired the match winning goal in the 65th minute.

Earlier, Ankur Dutta, secretary, AFA; Dhonsing Rongpi, treasurer, AFA and Dr PC Borkotoky, president BDSA unfurled the flags of AIFF, AFA and BDSA respectively. AFA official Budhraj Chetry introduced the guests to the players.
