GUWAHATI, April 8 - Col Mridul Barkakoty of Assam lifted the singles title in the men�s above 60 years category of the ITF Seniors Tennis Tournament which concluded on April 5 at Phuket, Thailand.

In the final he defeated his opponent Jonathan Rodriguez from USA in straight sets 6-0, 6-2. In the above 55 years men�s doubles Col Barkakoty, partnering with Hebert Jacobs of Germany became the runners - up.

This is for the first time a player from Assam has won the singles title in the above 60 years age group in an ITF event. Stated in a AATA press release.
