SILCHAR, JUNE 14: After college teachers under Assam College Teachers Association (ACTA) zonal body raised questions on the approach of Assam University Silchar's stance in conducting examination for undergraduate students from July 7 amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation, the University has announced that the dates were 'tentative' and has been changed until further notice.

Talking to The Assam Tribune, vice chancellor Prof Dilip Chandra Nath said, "the schedule of the examination was prepared because Government wanted us to send a communication regarding the conduct of the examination.

"Our steps are in accordance with the MHRD and UGC in the context of COVID-19 situation. We are also discussing on the syllabus aspect.

"The examination schedule, however, is a tentative one and would be changed considering the circumstances in the interest of the students."

Accordingly, highly placed sources in the university said, "the authorities have deferred the undergraduate examinations slated to begin from July 7 untill further notice and dates for offline submission of forms by the students has been extended to June 25.

"Also, the university has taken steps to arrange for online submission of forms as well and urged the students not to panic under any circumstances."
