GUWAHATI, Feb 8 � Setting a precedent in the history of journalism in the entire region, the Assam Tribune Group of Newspapers has become the first newspaper house in the country to implement the recommendations of the Majithia Wage Board with effect from January this year.
As per discussion between the Assam Tribune Employees Union (ATEU) and the Tribune authorities, all the employees of the group received their new wages from this month.
It needs to be mentioned here that the Assam Tribune Group has been implementing all the welfare measures for journalists and non-journalists, thus creating new milestones over the decades.
The ATEU, while congratulating the employees, has extended its gratitude to the authorities for speedy implementation of the wage board recommendations.
Meanwhile, ML Talwar, the general secretary of the All India Newspaper Employees Federation, has congratulated the ATEU and thanked the management of the Assam Tribune Group. He also called upon all the newspaper owners of the country to implement the recommendations of the wage board immediately.
