Assam top in armwrestling meet

GUWAHATI, Sept 11 - Assam became the best team in the National Armwrestling Championship which concluded at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium here last evening.

Assam won 19 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze medals in the meet while Madhya Pradesh came second with 3 gold and 7 silver medals. The championship was organised by the All Assam Armwrestling Association where over 200 players from 20 States took part, informed organising secretary Prahlad Sankar Bhagawati.

The best players in different groups are: (Jr girls) Debika (Manipur); (Jr boys) Arup Kr Sonowal (Assam); (Women) Mamoni Bayan (Assam); (Men) Mrigankajyoti Goswami (Assam); (Physically challenged) Vikendra Kr Jaat (MP); (Masters) Purander Gogoi (Assam).
