Assam to have three-phase polling on April 11, 18, 23

NEW DELHI, March 10 - Assam will have three-phase polling on April 11, 18 and 23 in Lok Sabha elections, while the Assembly elections in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will also be held simultaneously.

Announcing the general election 2019 at Vigyan Bhavan here this evening, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said voting will be conducted in seven phases � April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.

In the first and second phases, five parliamentary constituencies each will go to polls in Assam, while in the third phase, polling will be held in the remaining four constituencies.

The constituencies going to polls in the first phase on April 11 are Tezpur, Kaliabor, Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur. In the second phase on April 18, the constituencies of Karimganj, Silchar, Diphu, Mangaldai and Nagaon will go to poll. In the third phase on April 23, polling will be held for the constituencies of Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta and Guwahati.
