Assam thrash Arunachal

GUWAHATI, March 2 - Assam thrashed Arunachal Pradesh by nine wickets in their Group D match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 Tournament in Cuttack today.

Opting to bat, Arunachal Pradesh were bundled out for a paltry 102 runs in 18 overs with Samarth Seth top scoring with 42 runs off 32 balls while Kshitiz Sharma and Akhilesh Sahani contributed 23 and 16 runs respectively. Mukhtar Hussain was the pick of the bowlers with figures of four for eight runs in his quota of four overs while Amit Sinha bagged two wickets for 18 runs in three overs.

In reply, Assam eased past the target losing one wicket in 6.4 overs. Rishav Das top scored with 39 runs off 18 deliveries while Pallav Kr Das and Rajjakuddin Ahmed remained unbeaten on 34 and 30 respectively. For Arunachal Pradesh, the lone wicket was picked up by Somnath Soni.

Brief scores: Arunachal Pradesh 102 all out in 18 overs (Samarth Seth 42, Kshitiz Sharma 23; Mukhtar Hussain 4/8, Amit Sinha 2/18) lost to Assam 104/1 in 6.4 overs (Rishav Das 39, Pallav Kr Das 34 n.o., Rajjakuddin Ahmed 30 n.o.; Somnath Soni 1/15).
