GUWAHATI, Nov 14 � Host Assam made clean sweep in the team events of the North East Zone Inter State Badminton Championship being played at the Kanaklata Indoor Stadium here.
After completion of the team events, the individual rounds also began today.
On the second day Assam men team defeated Mizoram 3-0 in the final and lifted the Rahimtoola Cup. Hirok Jyoti Neog beat Lalmuanwama 21-9, 26-24, Anjan Buragohain beat Zarzokiama 19-21, 21-13, 21-14, Hirok Jyoti Neog-Debojytoti Bora beat Lalmuanwama-Samuel 21-12, 21-15.
In the girls final for the Shafiquerishi Cup, Assam outplayed Arunachal Pradesh 2-0. Ashmita Chaliha beat Pinky Karki 21-14, 21-13, Ashmita Chaliha-Ningshi Block Hazarika beat Pinky Karki-Taring Yania 21-11, 21-14.
Assam boys won the Narang Cup defeating Arunachal Pradesh 2-1 in the final. Deepjyoti Dutta lost to Laa Talar 21-10, 21-14, Rishav Sharma-Kashyap Neog beat Laa Talar-Jokim Ribya 19-21, 21-17, 21-18, Rishav Sharma beat Jokam Ribya 13-21, 21-17, 21-18.
In the final team event Assam women downed Mizoram 2-0 to complete the all win record. Ashmita Chaliha beat F Vanlalhriatpuii 21-10, 21-11, Bornali Konwar-Rimi Hazarika beat F Vanlalhriatpuii-Lalrinzuali 21-13, 21-7.
