GUWAHATI, Dec 17 - It was yet another big defeat for Assam as Services handed a 10-wicket drubbing to the visiting team in their Elite Group C Ranji Trophy match at the Palam Air Force Stadium, New Delhi today.
After taking a commendable 185-run first innings lead, Services bowled out Assam for 256 in the second innings. Requiring 71 for an outright victory, Services smacked 75 without losing any wicket in 18.1 overs.
Assam batsmen failed in the second innings too as resuming their innings at 83 for three on the final day of the four-day encounter, the team was all out for 256 in 86 overs. Baring Sarupam Purkayastha (71) and Gokul Sharma (56) other batsmen failed to keep their cool today. Diwesh Pathania was the top Services bowler who picked five Assam batsmen giving away 56 runs.
With this victory Services collected seven points from this match against Assam�s nil.
In the next match Assam will face Goa on home ground from December 22 to 25. Now, after six matches Assam is at sixth place in Group C with 14 points. Assam won two, lost three and drew one.
