Assam Science Society session concludes

MORIGAON, Jan 12 � The four-day session of the Assam Science Society came to an end here at Barah Mihir Khetra, Morigaon on Sunday. A seminar on the topic � �The idea of Ananta Kouti Brahmanda in Kirtan Ghosha and today�s astrophysics� was held on the occasion (on January11), which was inaugurated by noted social worker Hem Bhai.

In his inaugural speech, Hem Bhai explained the philosophical aspect of the Ananta Kouti Brahmanda concept and appealed to the modern scientists to cast light on the aspect. Participating in the seminar, noted scientist of India, Dr Jitendra Nath Goswami said that philosophical thought on the topic is better, but there is a difference between the philosophical and scientific approaches in the study of astrophysics. Dr Goswami said that physical research on the solar system is different from spiritual thinking on the same.

In the afternoon, the open session was presided over by Dr Aboni Kumar Bhagavati, president, Assam Science Society. Speaking as the chief guest in the function, Dr Mridul Hazarika, Vice Chancellor, Gauhati University appealed to the members of the Assam Science Society to make science popular at the village level.

In the function, Dr Jitendra Nath Goswami. Dr Subhan Nath, Scientist, NEISTE, Jorhat, Dr Susendra Nath Deka, Weather Scientist, Dr Jilfikar Ali, scientist, DRDO, Hyderabad and Abdul Hekim, former principal of Nagaon College were felicitated.
