NEW DELHI, July 30 - Senior Congressman and Rajya Sabha member from Assam Sanjay Sinh resigned from both the party and the Upper House on Tuesday. He is joining the BJP tomorrow. Considered a close associate of the Gandhis, Sinh is known �king of Amethi�.
Amethi was a former princely state in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing newsmen, Sinh said only Prime Minister Narendra Modi can help in fulfilling India�s dreams.
His wife Amita Sinh also announced her resignation from the Congress. Amita Sinh is a two-time MLA. She won from Amethi Assembly seat in 2002 on a BJP ticket and in 2007 on a Congress ticket. She lost the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections to Garima Singh, who was the first wife of Sanjay Sinh.
