By STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SILCHAR, Aug 22 - In yet another major research breakthrough in sports, Assam researchers Dibyojyoti Bhattacharjee, professor of statistics, Assam University, Silchar and Hemant Saikia, assistant professor, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat have come up with their collaborative work in the form of an application which can predict the final score of the first innings of a match in the Indian Premiere League (IPL) when the match is in progress and can also predict the chance of victory of the team batting second.

Google Play Store has now released our app, on win and score prediction for the Indian Premier League called as IPL WASP, after it has passed through a thorough review process. The app is developed based on some very basic statistical tools. The data used to fit these equations are taken from espncricinfo.com, Bhattacharjee claimed.

The app is developed out of love for cricket and our academic interest. It is meant to be used by cricket fans around the world and that shall make the game more interesting. The developers of the app hold a strong reservation against the use of gambling in sports and do not support gambling in any form, Bhattacharjee stated in a media release.
