Assam Police to launch e-services for citizens

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 30 - Assam Police is going to launch the Assam Police E-services for Citizens by pilot-launching the citizen portal of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) project with effect from January 1, 2016.

The e-services will be available online for citizens, who can access it from their homes by using the Internet and get the required service without visiting police stations. However, the manual system will also continue for the time being along with the online e-services for convenience.

The available e-services are tenant verification, domestic help verification, employee verification, character certificate, protest or strike request, event performance request, etc., an official release said.

The pilot launch and performance testing will be closely monitored for a period of two months. Once the testing is successful, more online services will be opened for citizens.

Assam Police has also created some other facilities for the convenience of citizens as part of its endeavour to provide better service. An email ID is available for citizens to send suggestions and feedback for the improvement of services, and a video demonstration in Assamese on the citizen portal for first-time users.

An SMS service has been enabled to get confirmation about the requests submitted and the status updates. On the other hand, all district SPs mail IDs are also available on the portal. It may be mentioned that most police stations are well connected with email services where BSNL links are available.

However, the online services will not be available in 97 police stations due to unavailability of connectivity due to remote locations. The details of these sites have been uploaded on the Citizen Charter in the portal.
