KOKRAJHAR, Oct 2 - Along with the rest of the State, the Kokrajhar district police administration also observed the Assam Police Day in a befitting manner at the Dimolgaon Police Reserve premises with a daylong programme today.
Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Shymal Prasad Saikia took the salute from the contingents which presented the parade.
Distinguished officers of the CRPF, police and civil administration were present on the occasion. In this connection, Kokrajhar Police also organised a blood donation camp at the same venue, where a number of police personnel donated blood.
Kokrajhar Police had on Thursday organised a friendly football match between Kokrajhar Police and Kokrajhar Press Club and carried out a plantation programme on the premises of the Police Reserve, Dimbolgaon, on Friday.
ANN Service from Sonari adds: The raising day of the Assam Police was observed at Sonari on Saturday. Mohnesh Mishra, Superintendent of Police, Charaideo, paid floral tributes to late jawans and officers of the Assam Police who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.
Mishra also highlighted the aims and objectives behind observing the raising day. He said the Assam Police has been doing its duty very sincerely in the insurgency-hit State which also shares its boundary with Bangladesh and Bhutan along with other NE States. The SP also read out the oath sentence in the presence of OCs of all police stations and other police personnel of the district.
Colonel Rajeev Ranjan of 63 Field Regiment, stationed at Maibella, Dhiraj Das, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Charaideo, D Pathak, Assistant Commandent of CRPF, and Mouchumi Chetia, Circle Officer, Sonari Revenue Circle, were also present on the occasion.
Silchar Correspondent adds: Cachar Police observed the Assam Police Day on Saturday by taking the vow to act �smart.� Cachar Superintendent of Police Rajveer Singh said �this is a step towards enabling the police officers and personnel to become strict and sensitive, modern and mobile, alert and accountable, reliable and responsible and techno savvy and trendy, as envisioned by our Prime Minister.�
Singh said that Cachar Police has a Facebook page for quick response to public complaints. Besides the parade by policemen, a blood donation camp and a plantation programme were also held to mark the occasion.
On the sidelines of the Police Day function, the Cachar SP informed that a number of guidelines were issued to puja committees and the people in general for the celebration of the ensuing Durga Puja in a safe and secure manner. Strict vigil will be kept against all kinds of gambling at the roadside puja pandals and vehicles used by the respective puja committees will have to be registered and the drivers� licences and other details should be verified. Also, the list of volunteers deployed by puja committees must have the countersignatures of the officers-in-charge of the respective police outposts.
The Cachar SP said: �We have a sufficient force which will be deployed to ensure the peace celebration of Durga Puja. People must cooperate and inform the police if they come across any suspected entry of people or vehicles. Also, alternative power arrangements and installation of CCTV cameras at puja pandals must be done. Pillion riding is restricted in the district.�
Dhubri Correspondent adds: On the occasion of Assam Police Day, a daylong programme was organised by Dhubri police on Saturday.
The main attraction of the programme was a mini marathon, where participants from many educational institutions and organisations took part. SP of Dhubri, Longneet Terang, did the flag-off for the mini marathon in the presence of ADC Debojeet Khanikar, DIPRO Bikash Sharma, DSP Iftikar Ali, senior sportsman Bidyuth Bharali and many other dignitaries.
On the occasion, a blood donation camp, plantation drive and many other programmes were also organised by the police. �Such programmes not only encourage our officials but play a great role in bringing together police and civilians, which is very important for maintaining law-and-order situation,� said Terang.
