Assam lifters in Indian squad

GUWAHATI, Aug 27 - Altogether four weightlifters from Assam have been included in the Indian team for the Youth, Junior, and Senior Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship to be held at Pune, Maharashtra from October 11 to 16. Along with the weightlifters, Alokesh Baruah has been appointed as coach of the Indian youth and junior team while Bhabajyoti Goswami, secretary of the Assam Weightlifting Association will officiate in the meet as referee.

Meanwhile Apurba Chetia and Papul Changmai were selected for the IWF Senior World Championship to be held at Houston, USA.

The selected weightlifters are: Apurba Chetia (62kg), Papul Changmai (69kg), Jameer Hussain (105kg), Swapna Priya Baruah (69kg).
