GUWAHATI, June 14 - Assam became runners-up in the KAI Sub-junior and Senior National Karate Championship which concluded at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on June 12.

In the sub-junior category, Assam won six gold, four silver and four bronze medals to stand second while West Bengal topped the table with nine gold medals. Hosts Delhi secured the third spot in the sub-junior category winning three gold medals. For Assam Hemphu Bonjang won a gold and a silver medal while Edwik Mazumdar won one silver and a bronze.

In the senior group, Delhi, Services and Arunachal Pradesh bagged top three positions respectively.
