GUWAHATI, June 8 - Assam Seishinkai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Association players bagged 21 medals, including four gold in the 15 All India School and Senior Karate Federation Cup held at Patna on June 3 and 4.
Over 1000 karatekas from 20 States took part in the championship which was inaugurated by the Bihar Sports Minister Siv Chandra Ramdev.
A 17-member team of the Assam Seishinkai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Association took part in the two-day championship. The gold medal winning players have been selected to take part in the Open Martial Arts Championship, Destiny to be held in South Africa, stated a release.
The medal winners are: Harshita Hazarika (gold in kumite, bronze in kata), Jahnabi Debi (gold in kata, bronze in kumite), Navanit Achyut (gold in kata), Sadananda Limbu (gold in kumite, bronze in kata), Nihal Barman (silver in kata), Lopamudra Gogoi (silver in kumite and kata), Pratyay Debasarma (silver in kata), Bhim Kr Limbu (silver in kata, bronze in kumite), Suraj Ch Das (silver in kumite), Jyoti Prasad Oja (bronze in kata), Bikash Deka (bronze in kata), Nihar Ranjan Goswami (bronze in kata), Krishti Sadhana Kashyap (silver in kata), Niraj Gogoi (bronze in kata), Udvashit Ratan Rajbongshi (bronze in kata).
Medals for Seishinkai Shito-Ryu Karate School: The players of the Seishinkai Shito-Ryu Karate School of Assam also won medals in the same tournament.
The medal winners of the School are: Jiya Sarma (gold in kata and kumite), Jintu Kr Das (gold in kumite), Kuldeep Deka (silver in kumite), Samim Ali (silver in kumite), Rituraj Bordoloi (silver in kumite), Rohit Kr Haloi (silver in kumite), Debojit Das (bronze in kumite), Krishna Das (bronze in kumite), Biswajit Das (bronze in kumite).
