GUWAHATI, March 28 � On the opening day of the two-day NESKFI North East India Karate Championship at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here today, Assam won six gold medals.
The championship was inaugurated by United Karate-Do Association, Assam president Bharat Chandra Narah. Sports Minister Ajit Singh and Karate Association of India general secretary Bharat Sharma were also present along with other guests.
Altogether 324 karatekas from eight States are taking part in the meet. The gold medal winning Assam karatekas are: Krishanu Bhuyan, Bastav Kashyap, Fiana Rahman, Mrinmoy Dewgharia, Hemphu Bongjang, Geet Gunjan Das. Till evening, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya (two) were the other gold medal winning States in the championship today.
